Who should you contact at companies to book interviews?
If you're trying (and failing) to get interviews, you might be reaching out to the wrong people. Here's the simplest way to find the right person to reach out to:
Pick people who:
1) Have high decision making power over whether you get hired
2) Are likely to reply
The two people this apply to are:
A) Hiring managers of roles: A hiring manager is the person who a candidate would report to if they were hired to do the role.
For example, at Relentless, I’m the hiring manager for some of my sales roles because the sales hires report to me, while other people on my team are the hiring managers for other roles because they have a different set of employees reporting to them.

B) Recruiters:
A recruiter is the person responsible for finding talent to do a role and pushing them through the screening process.
I) Executive recruiter implies the recruiter recruits for Director / C-Suite
II) Technical recruiter implies the recruiter recruits for technical roles like SWE and DS
III) Senior recruiter implies the recruiter recruits for senior / director level roles.
Whether you target A or B, always prioritize people who:
1. Posted the job post.
2. Are more senior.
3. Have been at the company longer.
